SDUK Development Squads
In 2010 Sport Development (UK) Ltd formed a football specific development centre with the aim of of bridging the gap between grassroots football and the Professional Academy / Centre of Excellence set up.
To date we have over 100 children registered from age 4 to 15 and have had 4 players sign for Professional Clubs and a number of players attending trials.
We have been thankful of the opportunity to create a second centre to develop the work at this session and now offer an elite programme lead by Head coach and company director, UEFA A License coach, Chris Knott.
As the centre has progressed we have been very fortunate to provide our players with the opportunity to play in many fixtures including some against established Professional and Semi-Professional Clubs such as:
- Barnsley FC
- Hartlepool United
- Corby Town
- Boston United
- Histon FC
- Luton Town
- Chesterfield FC
- Grimsby Town
- Manchester City FC Elite Sqauds
- Doncaster Rovers
- Lincoln City
- York City
- and more...
We have also managed to gain contacts with many other clubs and can offer children a pathway into football whatever level it may be. With our age specific training programme in place, our primary objectives for the development squads are:
- Enhance childrens football knowledge and ability in a safe and pressure free environment.
- Promote equality within the groups, developing all children.
- Develop players as people (socially) as well as sports people (technical, physical, psychological).
- Encourage all players to be comfortable with the ball at their feet, we encourage players to aim for a minimum 200 touches of the ball per training session and express themselves, try tricks and skills.
- Develop and help players achieve short and long term goals.
- Carry out the FA respect campaign and be role models for players at all times.
All players involved at the development centre purchase a kit and have a number of things to look forward to throughout the year including presentations, tours, fixtures, christams party, player of the month awards and more.
